HOTZER IN WIEN. A RELATIVELY SMALL MAHOGANY MONTH GOING LATERNDLHUHR. CIRCA 1835.

An attractive month duration Laterndluhr. The mahogany case with nice patination has the usual lift off hood with an opening front door. The roof mouldings are the more elaborate ogee style rather than the flat style. The middle trunk door lifts out as does the base door. The clock has nicely figured mahogany veneers and is strung with maple or boxwood stringing. The undercut base terminating in a shaped moulding.

The 6.5" dial is signed for the maker "Hotzer in Wien" and has the unusual feature of a seconds hand below 12 o’clock. This is for show only as the clock is not seconds beating and therefore the hand will do a complete revolution in about 45 seconds. The dial is surrounded by a nicely cast and gilded engine turned bezel.

The month duration movement has the usual fine wheelwork, employs a dead beat escapement and is mounted into the case by a seatboard. The driving weight is suspended from a five spoke pulley and the clock has a steel rod pendulum with a wide steel rod with a large brass bob. The movement has end plates to the pivots.

Height: 40" (101.5 cms.)

Price band: E
