2680 A very attractive transitional moustached topped dachluhr. The case has well chosen mahogany veneers with ripple mouldings below the moustache top and to the sides of the door and across the bottom of the undercut base. The rest of the door openings and the side glasses are strung with maplewood, as is the nicely shaped moustache top. The case is of six light construction with a full length opening front door. The white enamel dial signed for the maker "Franz Storch in Wien", has nicely shaped poker and beetle hands made of blued steel. It is contained within an engine turned gilded bezel. The eight day movement has very fine wheelwork and a dead-beat escapement. It is mounted on the backboard via four latched feet. As is usual on these clocks there is beat adjustment at the bottom of the crutch. The steel rod pendulum is suspended from the backboard and has a large brass bob and double knurled rating nut. It beats against an enamel beat plaque secured to the back of the case. Length: 36" (91.5 cms). |
