2677 A beautiful and imposing Viennese wall clock. The high quality mahogany case has a carved moustache top and ripple mouldings to the top and between the opening front top door and the lift out bottom door. The case is of six light construction with an unusually shaped bottom. It is more like a Laterndluhr than a dachluhr as it has the typical lift out trunk door but an opening hood door. The backboard, all of the doors and the top and sides of the case have boxwood stringing to their edges and the mahogany veneers are well figured and matched. The silvered brass one piece dial is a particularly attractive feature of this clock. It has a beautifully engraved centre with a large seconds dial below 12 O’clock. It is contained within a gilded engine turned bezel. |
