2670 An extremely attractive Viennese grande sonnerie longcase clock. The exceptional case made of very light coloured walnut with well chosen and lively veneers, the various mouldings and edgings in ebonised wood. The hood of the clock is surmounted by a gilded carved figure with an ormolu sunburst in the roof pediment. The sides of the hood have gilded and ebonised columns in the shape of Egyptian ladies and the dial is enclosed within an opening gilded and engine turned bezel. The dial is of porcelain with a seconds hand. The eight day grande sonnerie movement strikes the quarters on two bells and has a steel rod pendulum with brass bob. Height: 90" (230 cms.) Sold |
