AN ELEGANT THREE MONTH DURATION BIEDERMEIER WALL CLOCK IN A CRESTED FAN TOP SIX LIGHT CASE MADE OF WELL FIGURED ASH. CIRCA 1845.

A rare and unusual three month duration Biedermeier clock. The case is constructed of well figured ash with crossbanding on the backboard and with stringing of boxwood and mahogany. The top of the clock is arched with carved wood ornamentation at the front. The tops and bottoms of the door have caps which at the top are nicely carved and at the bottom are relatively plain. The side members are veneered with crossbanded wood which give a very pleasing effect. The undercut base with the mahogany stringing has a small ripple mould near its foot.

The white enamel dial signed ‘A Holmberg in Wien’ is surrounded by a nicely engine turned gilded bezel. The blued steel hands are very fine.

The clock has a steel rod pendulum with a large brass bob and runs on a slightly larger than normal brass cased weight because of its three months duration.

Three month clocks are very rare and are usually much larger than this to give greater drop. The light coloured wood and long duration make this an exceptional clock.

Length: 40" (102 cms)
