2573 An extremely elegant and beautifully proportioned taper case Laterndluhr. The mahogany case has an opening front door, although the hood itself is fixed. It has a lift out trunk door with two glass panels divided by a thin carcase rail. The whole case is well strung with maplewood stringing and is slightly longer than some taper cases we have seen which gives added elegance. This case style is a transition between a full Laterndluhr and a Dachluhr style case. It is only found on a very small percentage of Viennese wall clocks. The silvered brass dial unusually has engraved numerals. These are normally painted on. It also incorporates a seconds dial which is for display purposes only as the clock is not seconds beating. |

The movement is of the high quality one expects on Viennese clocks. It has a Graham deadbeat escapement and is weight driven by an extremely small weight for a long duration clock. It has a relatively large great wheel within the four wheel train to give its long duration. There is beat adjustment on the crutch.
The steel rod pendulum with large brass bob is suspended by a spring from a bracket mounted on the backboard.
Length: 47" (120 cms)
